Many women choose to attend pregnancy and birth classes with either their own Midwife or with a private company. It is important that the antenatal information or ‘parent craft’ meets your needs and you leave feeling empowered rather than worried or confused.
Discussing with your partner or support network can help you choose the right information provider for you. You can decide what you need to know, what approach is right for you and how is the best way to access whether as an individual, as a couple or in a group.
We recommend cantion with some online information and ensure any references are from a reliable source or provided by your healthcare provider. It can be helpful to research any procedures or recommended intervention and also ask your midwife or consultant to discuss all options available to you to give you full informed choice.
Look out for post natal or baby groups too as these can be a great support network and provide some adult company with other new parents. It is worth asking your health visitor or searching for local community centres.
